Angel: My mandala represents bringing family around a tree.
|
David A: An idea prompted me to make a circle to represent unity. The stone is special because it doesn't look like the rest.
|
Amy: The glass beads represent technology. The red and blue ones represent fire and water.
|
Brianna: I tried to create an asterisk. I chose black and white to represent ying and yang.

The Science Outreach Program at SFU Surrey was incredibly informative and fun! The students put their knowledge about density to the test by trying to create a rainbow effect with mystery liquids and got to taste real ice cream made! A huge thank-you to the parent volunteers and to SFU Surrey for this experience!

The students have been busy during Number Talks this month! We originally started looking at paint splatters to record how many different ways we could find each value being represented. Then, we moved on to looking at various objects like the bagels picture to the right! The goal of starting each math lesson with Number Talks is to develop a strong number sense (being able to break apart numbers, subitize, round, etc).

Free Transit Week is coming!
Thank-you Translink for visiting our classroom yesterday to talk to us about being active and getting outdoors! We couldn't have been more thrilled to have Mariee from Translink in our room to sing us some songs and get us up acting out a bus scene so that we are comfortable with taking transit next week to Newton Wave Pool! |
